LG LE5300 LED TV Review

Posted on 02 July 2011

LG LED TVs have become very popular because they produce quality pictures at a competitive price and the LG LE5300 is a perfect example of this as this LG 5300 review will confirm.

This 42 inch Full HD LED TV has a 120 Hz display which produces natural colors and impresses with how it handles motion particularly when displaying HD content. It also has good viewing angles and a slim, stylish design. It is great value for a cheap LED TV that costs less than $900.

If there is anything to be disappointed about, it is that the LG LED TV 5300’s audio performance doesn’t live up to the visual capabilities. The quality of sound produced from it is weak, slightly tinny and lacking base. But this is not unusual amongst other rival LED TVs in this class from other brands and it is certainly not the worst performer in its class, plus you do always have the option of connecting the LG LED 5300 TV to an external home cinema surround sound system.

Connectivity options are what you would expect for a TV in this price range, there are 4 HDMI ports and a USB socket that can be used to connect your digital media so that you can view you photos, listen to music and playback movies of supported formats. The menu system and remote control are clearly laid out, however the onscreen instructions aren’t particularly detailed and the full instruction manual is supplied on a CDROM which if required can be a bit of a pain.

When it comes to power consumption and efficiency, the LG LE5300 is good, it also has an ambient light sensor which dims the brightness of the display in darker room conditions and can reduce the power consumption by half.

In an era of 3D and internet enabled TVs the LG 5300 TV can seem rather lacking in features, but it is not intended to be in the same class as such TVs. What you get with this model is a solid performer without all the bells and whistles, it is directed towards the consumer who has no demand for and consequently doesn’t want to waste money on 3D TV or internet connectivity. With this in mind, this LG LE5300 review can recommend it to the consumer who requires nothing more than a quality cheap LED TV.
