Examining Cable Versus Satellite TV

January 5th, 2010 by GuestPoster

So Christmas has passed and you go everything yo wanted for your new entertainment room. A brand new flat panel television, beautiful modern TV stand to sit it on and beautiful decor to go along with it. The only thing your missing is your cable or satellite TV provider. The first thing you need to do is examine the best cable and satellite TV deal out there. Now its no secret that Comcast Cable is the largest cable provider on the planet and if your like me you cannot stand their customer service. They offer a good variety of channels but they are hell to deal with.

The other options are DirecTV and Dish Network satellite providers. I can attest personally to all 3 service providers because I had Comcast and then went to DirecTV. We have Dish Network at work so I have had access to all 3. There are pros and cons to all of them and I will get into those next. My favorite of all three is of course the one I have at home now which is DirecTV. Second to none in the High Definition TV category. They have more HD channels than Dish Network and way more than Comcast. In fact that was one of the reasons I got rid of Comcast because half of the channels I watched were not offered in HD.

What I also like about DirecTV is that they offer Sunday Ticket which is almost a must if you are a football lover like myself. You have the ability to watch any NFL game in high definition at anytime if you choose. They also offer the Redzone Channel which takes you to any game in the NFL where a team is in the redzone and about to score.

What I did like about Comcast was the ease with which you can scroll through channels rapidly. DirecTV has a delay and they say they are in the process of fixing that. It is kind of annoying at times but I have learned to deal with it. The only other downside to satellite TV is the storm issue. Now this does not happen all the time but if you have a really bad storm you will likely lose signal. However the plus side is if you have shows DVR recorded then you can still watch them so that is nice.
