If you have cable TV, you probably already know how expensive it can get. That is of course if you are paying regular pricing, as there are low rates for customers if they are in the first year of service. Here is how most cable TV deals work.
When you are a new or sometimes even a returning customer, they offer you a discounted rate. Generally, if you want more than just cable TV, then you get an even better deal. For example, with Xfinity TV you can get into a triple play package which includes a basic cable package, unlimited home phone calling across the United States and Canada, and basic high speed internet service for $99 a month. This price is good for one year, then it goes to around $140 a month where it stays indefinitely. As you can see, this is a 40% hike over the promotional rate. Now it’s a bit difficult to measure just the cable TV rate if you are comparing it to something like Direct TV, but you can sit down and put pencil to paper if you are cost conscious in this area.
With Direct TV service, they have two main promotions on their pricing. The main one runs through most of the year and gives new customers a $30 discount on service on basically all of their packages. The other big offer is the NFL Sunday Ticket deal which is running right now. If you buy the football package for $300, they will give you five months of their top package for free. This deal is pretty good for football fans, but if you aren’t into the NFL that much than you can still get the other deal. Most of the deals also include free HD if you are set up with one of the newer flat screen Tvs that are on the market now.
